How to Clean Karndean Flooring?
This guide explains how to clean Karndean flooring, which is a type of LVT flooring known for its quality, durability, and ease of maintenance. However, it’s crucial to remember that Karndean flooring requires effort and a straightforward cleaning routine that you can incorporate into your daily schedule.
Composition and Surface Characteristics
Composition and surface characteristics Let’s take a look at the composition of Karndean flooring and its innate characteristics before learning how to clean Karndean flooring. There are five distinct layers that make up this type of LVT: 2 PVC backing layers. 1x high-definition aesthetic layer. 1x clear PVC embossed wear layer. 1x PU protective layer. The backing layers enhance depth and durability, enabling the addition of adhesive if necessary for installation. Next, the high-definition aesthetic layer is what contains the printed pattern and colors. For example, you can get Click Karndean flooring that emulates real wood or stone. On top of this, there is an embossed PVC wear layer, which further improves durability and gives resistance to foot traffic. Lastly, there is a top PU protective layer that provides waterproofing and protection against things like UV rays. So, for cleaning, Karndean flooring is relatively simple; it has a smooth surface, so hoovering, dusting, and mopping are all easy. Additionally, it’s waterproof, so you can comfortably use a mop and water without risking damaging the flooring.
Everyday Cleaning Routine
We recommend cleaning Karndean flooring on a daily basis due to the higher visibility of dirt, grime, and spills compared to carpets. Dusting, mopping, and drying are the three steps that make up the process, which takes only 5–10 minutes.

Part 1 – Dusting / Hoovering
To prepare your Karndean floor for mopping, dust it with a soft-bristled brush or vacuum cleaner. Check the manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure the vacuum is suitable for use with LVT flooring.
Part 2 – Mopping
To mop Karndean flooring, mix 50 ml of cleaning solution with 8–10 liters of water and gently wring off excess water before mopping. For optimal results and to remove tough stains, use a pH-neutral cleaning agent.

Part 3 – Drying
Part 3: Drying Because Karndean flooring has a smooth top surface, it is more slippery than carpet. Before walking on it again, allow it to naturally dry. When no one will be walking on the floor, mop it to prevent smearing.
Periodic Refreshing
To maintain the luster and original quality of Karndean flooring, we recommend “refreshing” it once a year or every 18 months, depending on foot traffic and wear and tear. Cleaning your floor on a daily or weekly basis can keep it in great condition.
Keep Your Karndean Flooring Looking Immaculate With Regular Cleaning
Regular cleaning of Karndean flooring, including hoovering, dusting, and mopping, is essential to maintaining its durability, waterproofing, and immaculate appearance.
